Rosie Whinray & Kevin Mayes @ Ōmiha Folk Club

Rosie and Kevin met through a mutual love of unaccompanied folk-singing. Kev’s background farming in Sussex shaped his repertoire & style, while Rosie was brought up in the Auckland folk scene, though she currently lives in Wellington. Strong solo singers in their own right, they also sing together in harmony. Songs of land & sea, love & war, beer & wine, politics, comedy, work, magic, & sheep: hearty history sung the traditional way.

Rosie and Kevin will also teach the audience some of their favourite traditional songs, so come prepared to sing along! The evening will be hosted by Jeff Davis, one of America’s most respected collectors and interpreters of traditional music, who luckily for us has also landed on this wonderful island.
