Step into a world where history doesn’t just sit quietly—it belts out tunes and demands a singalong.

Raiding centuries-old ballads full of rogues, romance, and questionable life choices, Celtic Ferret have firmly planted themselves in the New Zealand folk scene, popping up at clubs and festivals like musical mischief-makers.

Their sound is powered by a frankly suspicious number of instruments—guitar, mandolin, flutes, whistles, and whatever else they tripped over on the way out the door.

To celebrate the season, Jean and Ian have dusted off a mix of crowd favourites and “oh yeah, that one!” songs for May Day—so expect a bit of everything, from the well-loved to the surprising.

And yes, they will be playing songs you know, so warm up those vocal cords—it’s not a concert, it’s a group effort.

Last seen running amok at ECFC in 2023, the Ferrets are back and ready to once again raise the roof (and possibly a few eyebrows) with their friends at East Coast Folk Club.
