Tom Cunliffe & Dave Khan @ Auckland Bluegrass Club

We have a great performance in store for you this month – Tom Cunliffe will be playing backed up by Dave Khan.

Tom Cunliffe writes folk songs like short films; vivid, offbeat, and full of heart. Based in Aotearoa, New Zealand, he crafts lyrical worlds, with a guitar tuned sideways and a voice that balances gravity with joy. “An artist hitting his stride,” (Graham Reid), Cunliffe has released three critically acclaimed albums over the past decade and played to sold out crowds around the country. Having toured New Zealand and Europe, Cunliffe’s live shows are known to be “utterly compelling” (13th Floor), full of “songs packed with meaning and intent, communications expressed with admirable clarity and literacy.” (Libel Music) Cunliffe has supported a number of internationally renowned artists including M. Ward, Grace Cummings, and Reb Fountain, bringing his mix of warmth, wit, and slow-burning intensity to stages near and far.  You won’t want to miss it!

Andy will be hosting her Old-Timey Tunes on Wednesday, September 22 from 7:30PM at OC Nix (4th Wednesday of the month).  If you’re looking to improve your playing or just take in / learn some great tunes, this session is perfect.  Bring your stringed instrument.
