SUMMARY:Adam & Marika @ Ōmiha Folk Club
DESCRIPTION:Friday 23 October! Ōmiha Folk Club presents Adam & Marika\nAdam Ogle first performed at the Ōmiha Folk Club with the wonderful Hannah Morrell and instantly won us over. Super funny and charismatic\, he is also an extraordinarily talented and engaging guitarist. We have since spotted him playing everywhere from folk festivals to floating past on a truck in Auckland’s St Patrick’s Day parade (which turned out to be a very cute who’s who of the Auckland folk scene).\nAdam has played alongside Irish music heavyweights Sharon Shannon and Manus McGuire\, toured New Zealand and Australia with Rough Town\, and stepped into Glen Hansard’s shoes as the lead in an Auckland production of Once: The Musical.\nMarika Chia grew up in a large musical family\, began playing violin at four and travelled internationally with her family band from a young age. Her playing has a lively\, theatrical quality with a touch of old-world magic.\nTogether\, Adam and Marika make playful\, spirited music rooted in Irish and Scottish folk traditions\, weaving in soulful ballads\, gypsy jazz and flaming-hot fiddle tunes. Firm favourites at the Auckland and Wellington folk festivals\, we’re delighted to bring them over the water to Ōmiha!\nTickets $30 via Humanitix  This intimate event will sell out\, please book ahead!\n

DESCRIPTION:Don’t miss this one off double-act concert featuring Adam & Marika and Vai Mai Natana! \nVai Mai Natana’s soulful vocals mixed with highly-skilled groovy guitar riffs will have you swaying and dancing along\, followed by Adam & Marika’s high energy fiddle and guitar tunes\, this two act show will start your weekend off with a bang! \nAdam & Marika \nAdam Ogle is a well-known musician in the Australasian scene\, known for his work in the musical Once and the band Roughtown who have played at Welly Fest and other festivals across NZ and Australia. Played with the likes of Sharon Shannon and Manus McGuire. \nMarika Chia has been in the music scene in New Zealand for over a decade and has performed with musicians such as Ms Lauryn Hill\, Josh Groban\, Jordan Luck and other NZ greats. Combining soulful ballads with electric fiddle tunes. \nVai Mai Natana \nMema is weird but means well. \nNathan is kinda quiet but smiles a lot. \nCurrently based in New Zealand\, Mema has been quickly taken under mentoring wings of Aotearoa’s most well known producers who continue to volunteer their time and expertise to record her astounding works. Meme’s EP being released later this year will feature a star studded list of these household known names. \nClassically trained guitarist Nathan Boston is one of our NZ’s hardest working musicians. One of the founding (and still current) members of well known kiwi band White Chapel Jak\, this man has an undying love for playing music live that has seen him perform over 150 gigs within one year. His creative blend of classical meets blues\, meets rock\, meets funk has taken him on a world wide journey of professional music in different projects and styles alongside a long list of international names and events. \nTogether Mema and Nathan deliver an exceptional music experience that you will feel at your very core as this is where they express from. They focus on acoustic arrangements of Mema’s original works with the odd quirky cover all delivered with the sincerest of love for sharing their craft. Musically\, it’s kinda like The Rescues formed a love triangle with Leonard Cohen and Andres Segovia. It is a most delicious blend of quirky beauty that will make you laugh and probably cry in the same night. Expect soaring vocals with carefully placed guitars supporting poetic lyrics in the sincerest of love for sharing music with you.
