DESCRIPTION:Aotearoa’s premier Bulgarian Folklore Vocal Ensemble\, lead by Tui Mamaki\, returns – offering a fresh collection of ancient melodies gathered on their recent trip to Bulgaria\, with exquisite acapella arrangements\, crafted for their unique blend of women’s voices.\n\nFull Circle is the culmination of an important year of mahi\, which saw the ensemble travel to Bulgaria for the first time together\, to perform at the famed Koprivshtitsa Festival in collaboration with Yasna Voices from New York\, and to study with some of the country’s finest folklore keepers and vocalists.\n\nThis concert will be an offering of livings songs\, learnt in the living rooms\, chitalishte (community halls)\, and on the mountain tops of Bulgaria. It is the culmination of a journey to the source. But it is also a Kiwi tradition in itself – its roots go back more than 50 years. There have been a few personnel changes over the years\, but the band is still a group of friends united by a love of blues and that old Memphis sound.\nToday’s Railway Pie is a “who’s who” of the New Zealand acoustic blues scene – singer and harmonica player Jack Craw\, Terry Toohill\, who plays guitar\, banjo and fiddle\, Al Young\, who does some singing and plays guitar\, steel guitar and mandolin\, and double-bass maestro Garry Trotman\, who also sings and plays kazoo and banjo.\n\nRailway Pie has played at venues ranging from pubs to folk festivals and clubs to art galleries\, and has released two CDs. DESCRIPTION:Sarah Marlowe Spence is a singer songwriter with a varied repertoire. With a folk-classical voice\, her music is at times a deep reflection on life and experience yet can include humorous narratives on failed relationships. \nSarah has classical voice training and after a music paper at university\, she started playing guitar and writing songs. Sarah lived overseas for some time and spent time living in a yoga retreat and study centre. This influenced her music to include a Sanskrit repertoire which she also shares on occasion accompanying yoga classes with music and in group singing events at places such as yoga studios.
