SUMMARY:Buffalo Traffic Jam @ The Tuning Fork
DESCRIPTION:Breakout Montana folk duo Buffalo Traffic Jam are heading to Aotearoa this October\, marking their first visit on the Down Under Tour 2026. Hot on the heels of a sold‑out US tour\, they’ll showcase their latest release Take Me Home\, alongside earlier favourites that have collectively clocked over 8 million streams\, fuelling a devoted and rapidly expanding fan base. \nWith rich harmonies\, stripped-down instrumentation\, and vocals that make you feel; whether it’s longing\, joy\, or that bittersweet in-between\, Buffalo Traffic Jam creates songs that linger long after the last chord fades. Their music is as much about atmosphere as it is about melody\, rooted in folk traditions but carried forward by a modern emotional edge. \nABOUT BUFFALO TRAFFIC JAM: Buffalo Traffic Jam is a folk band born in the heart of Bozeman\, Montana\, where its members\, Frankie Cassidy and Nathan Ross\, first crossed paths as students at Montana State University. United by a love for storytelling and the raw beauty of acoustic sound\, they began crafting music that evokes wide-open landscapes and the emotions that live quietly beneath the surface of everyday life. The result was a self-titled debut EP followed by singles “Rescue Me” and “Forgot Your Roots\,” the latter of which saw the band gain their first online momentum\, leading to explosive growth in the past 3 months. \nTheir newest release\, the Take Me Home EP\, marks a defining moment in Buffalo Traffic Jam’s evolution — showcasing a deeper\, more expansive sound while staying grounded in the heartfelt lyricism and raw instrumentals that first won them fans. The project weaves together themes of resilience\, nostalgia\, and self-discovery\, subjects that have become commonplace in the songwriting of Buffalo Traffic Jam. \nThis year Buffalo Traffic Jam made their festival debuts at Under the Big Sky and Redwest Fest and are currently on tour with country singer-songwriter Dylan Gossett. From dorm room jam sessions to packed venues across the US\, Buffalo Traffic Jam has stayed true to their roots.

SUMMARY:Sonia & Nigel with Ben Fernandez @ IPress Cafe
DESCRIPTION:Sonia & Nigel return home to Auckland for a special concert with pianist Ben Fernandez – a collaboration bringing together three musicians with a shared love of improvisation\, melody and musical storytelling. Expect an eclectic mix of folk\, jazz\, gypsy and world music\, along with songs and stories from the road. \nThis concert marks the culmination of Sonia & Nigel’s musical journey around France\, Europe and Aotearoa New Zealand – and celebrates 10 years since Sonia moved to Auckland / Tāmaki Makaurau. After all those kilometres\, songs\, adventures and encounters\, it feels especially meaningful to finish the journey with a homecoming concert here in our own city. \nSonia & Nigel duo \nSonia & Nigel are a multi-cultural acoustic duo featuring French-American Paris-born Sonia Wilson on vocals & ukulele and Kiwi-American virtuoso musician Nigel Gavin on 7-string guitar. They weave French\, Kiwi and American songs with their own original compositions and inspiration from their travels around the world. After meeting and playing together for the first time at a folk festival during Sonia’s first visit to New Zealand on a solo round-the-world trip in December 2014\, the pair have since become a well-loved duo in the New Zealand music scene and beyond — sharing songs as a vehicle for peace\, joy\, healing and community-building; celebrating beauty\, love and ecology through music. \nBen Fernandez\nMusical Director\, Composer\, Arranger\, Educator \nBen Fernandez is a classically trained jazz pianist\, composer and arranger. He has a Masters’ Degree in Music\, majoring in Jazz Performance\, from the University of Auckland\, as well as degrees in Physics\, Computer Science and Business Management. \nBen has performed at concerts and events in more than 25 countries and is an award-winning composer for jingles\, TV shows and short films. He has released 10 albums of his music in New Zealand and also works as an educator\, teaching music at schools and colleges in Auckland. He conducts regular improvisation workshops in New Zealand and overseas and has recently completed composing music for a new rock musical to be staged later this year. \nCome along\, settle in with a drink and something delicious from the cabinet\, and join us for this special evening of music\, stories and celebration. \nTickets: $25 + booking fees in advance through Eventfinda\, or $30 cash on the door. \nMerci & à bientôt!

SUMMARY:Albi Solo Show @ Movespace
DESCRIPTION:Albi\, Chris Dent\, is a quiet but unrelenting force that’s been songwriting\, touring\, and performing for the better part of 15 years. Optimistic on rainy days\, and melancholic for the friends he’s lost and loved along the way\, Albi will warmly take you places with his music and live performance. \nHe’s proudly albino\, a condition that impacts his eyes\, skin and hair but has not slowed him down\, and it’s become a large part of his identity. A friendly figure who you’ll spot in a crowd with his district all white beard. He’s not let his vision affect his career and has seen many successes including a Best Folk Artist award at the Aotearoa Music Awards in 2018\, performing at WOMAD in 2020\, or touring Europe with acts Zarek & Albi and Albi & The Wolves in 2019 and 2026. \nAlbi\, or Chris if you meet him off stage\, is just a regular fella with a guitar who’s eager to learn your stories and share his own. He’s been sober for 6 and a half years and is looking forward to laying down a solo E.P. later this year. \nIf the opportunity arises to see him play Albi is an uplifting force of joy and music and should not be missed.
