DESCRIPTION:Warren Payne has been a regular performer on the Auckland music scene for several decades now and has been making his living from his music for the last 15 years or so. A regular entertainer in the Aged Care sector\, he is also well known for running Celtic pub sessions and Folk Festival singalongs\, as well as numerous Folk Club appearances\, long-time membership of The Maritime Crew\, and several Celtic bands playing pubs\, weddings etc. Multi-instrumental\, and with such a broad experience to draw from\, he is enjoyed wherever he appears.He is now joined by his lovely partner\, Fi Sadiq\, whom he met in a Rest Home where she is responsible for encouraging residents from many diverse cultures into a cohesive musical and activities programme. Fi provides sweet harmonies and presents an eclectic selection of lovely songs in her own appealing style\, as well as bringing percussion\, banjo\, guitar\, autoharp\, harmonica and ukelele into the instrumental mix as and when required.Together\, they form a charming\, fun-loving duo\, that entertain with grace and good humour.

DESCRIPTION:Folk for Folk is a Tangata Tiriti organised fundraiser in support of the Hīkoi mō Te Tiriti\nJoin us for an evening of heart-warming\, foot-stamping\, and spirit-lifting music from a special line-up of Tāmaki Makaurau folk artists. On the 10th of November\, te Hīkoi mō Te Tiriti begins the journey from Te Tai Tokerau to Pōneke. The hikoi marches “to entrench the truth of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in the lives of te iwi Māori and Tangata Tiriti”.\nThe hīkoi speaks opposition to the “Treaty Principles” Bill as it distorts the true meaning of te Tiriti O Waitangi\, failing to uphold the rights Māori were promised as part of it\, and threatens to erase more than four decades of hard-won advances for Te Ao Māori. As Tangata Tiriti folk musicians\, we are joining in solidarity and song with a collaborative fundraising concert\, with all proceeds going to support the hīkoi.\n\nFEATURING:\nFablesGreta O’LearyDave Khan & FriendsMoon GooseEcho ChildrenDoors open at 4.30pm\, music starts at 5pm. Tickets $20\, with additional koha encouraged if possible. Cash donations will be accepted on the day\, or a donation can be made through humanitix when reserving tickets. All of these proceeds will go toward hīkoi organisers. Simple vegetarian kai will be available for cash koha to make your Sunday evening just that little bit easier. Kids welcome\, and we will set up a kid-friendly space with some basic art supplies to keep little ones engaged.

DESCRIPTION:Bob McNeill & Emily Roughton are two of New Zealand’s best-known folk musicians. They bring their deep musical connection to Titirangi Beach Hall for a rare concert together\, playing their favourite songs and tunes collected over years of playing together at festivals\, stages and late into the night at kitchen tables. This is a concert not to be missed.Based in Wellington\, Bob is one of NZ’s best known folk songwriters. His songs have been covered by artists in NZ\, Australia\, the UK and USA. New Zealand Musician magazine compared his songwriting to Bruce Springsteen and Mark Knopfler; the Dominion Post likened him to Jackson Brown\, James Taylor\, Luka Bloom and Dougie Ma­cLean. A guitarist\, he is known for both his open-tuned acoustic fingerstyle style and electric guitar playing. He has toured widely in NZ\, Australia\, Canada\, Ireland\, the UK and USA. His latest album\, released in June 2024\, is Lost Stars\, an extended release on CD and download featuring new recordings and rarities\, with Emily on violin and piano.\nFrom Whangarei\, Emily is a virtuoso violinist inspired by the Scottish tradition and the modern trad movement. Classically trained\, she is infinitely adaptable with her gorgeous stylings and fiery tune playing and the perfect foil for Bob’s lyrical songs.
