DESCRIPTION:Singer-songwriting luminary\, Mel Parsons\, has announced a seven-date national theatre tour with her band in August and September 2026\, celebrating her much-anticipated new album\, CASTLE HILL\, to released on August 7. \nTaking its name from the remote mountain town in the Southern Alps where it was recorded\, CASTLE HILL was produced by Josh Logan and recorded live with Mel’s longtime band members Aaron Stewart (bass) and Jed Parsons (drums); joined by Ben King (Goldenhorse\, Grand Rapids) on guitars. Parsons says of these sessions: “it was a full immersion recording experience over a stolen summer holiday” \nFollowing the release of SABOTAGE in 2024\, multi-award winning Parsons toured the country with Crowded House\, performed in Canada and Australia\, and has continued her stellar run including a finalist nod for Best Folk Artist at the 2026 AMA’s. \nSingles already released from the record include the alternative radio chart toppers Post High Slide\, Brick By Brick\, Be Here Now\, Don’t Leave The Light On\, and Caravan\, as well as new single Grain By Grain. Castle Hill album release tour is funded through NZ On Air and supported by the NZ Music Commission. \nExpect soaring harmonies\, a dynamic live show\, and a feel-good vibe throughout as Mel Parsons performs live this August and September. SUMMARY:The Broken Heartbreakers @ Public Bar (Whammy)
DESCRIPTION:Ōtepoti’s longstanding indie folk favourites The Broken Heartbreakers have emerged from the mists to announce their brand new album\, as well as a full nationwide tour this September. SUMMARY:Rowena Wise @ Auckland Old Folks Association
DESCRIPTION:This spring\, Rowena Wise makes her long-awaited New Zealand debut\, bringing an intimate solo show across the motu for the first time. With just voice and guitar\, Rowena’s songs hit with a rare kind of clarity – tender\, point-blank\, and unafraid of the quietest truths. \nFrom Melbourne to Auckland\, Wellington to Oakura and beyond\, the tour celebrates a body of work that holds space rather than demands attention\, tracing heartbreak\, estrangement\, and the knottier growing pains of adulthood with candid poetic lyricism. \nSince debuting in 2018\, Rowena has amassed over 10 million streams\, earned airplay across triple j\, Double J and Unearthed\, and toured extensively across Australia\, the UK\, Europe\, the USA and Canada\, supporting artists including Folk Bitch Trio\, Holy Holy\, Ball Park Music\, Bernard Fanning and Paul Dempsey. Her 2024 debut album\, Senseless Acts of Beauty\, was praised by CLASH Magazine as “carefully etched indie folk” and shortlisted for the Australian Music Prize.\nExpect favourites\, new material\, and the kind of stillness you can feel in your chest.
