DESCRIPTION:Music at Midday:The Mollymawks\nThe Mollymawks are an acoustic guitar/vocals/violin duo from Aotearoa playing original songs and tunes with a Celtic flavour. Their music has been played on National Radio\, bFM and EastFM. \nThe duo comprises of Al Baxter on vocals and guitar\, and Emily Allen on fiddle. Al writes and performs in both the Mollymawks and the band Hoop who host the Ministry of Folk in Mount Eden. Emily Allen plays with various ensembles and symphony orchestras. She studied violin in Oxford with the legendary violinist Kato Havas OBE. \nThe Mollymawks songs have themes of love\, relationships\, humour and politics – all set to enchanting melodies and lovely acoustic arrangements.

DESCRIPTION:Music at Midday: Alan Stacey\nAlan Stacey’s repertoire is drawn from 6 decades of playing in England\, Ireland\, the Pacific Islands \, and New Zealand. His music is influenced by such diverse musicians as The Dubliners\, Fairport Convention\, Mississippi John Hurt\, Bob Dylan\, Joan Baez\, and more. \nAlan came to New Zealand from his native Leicestershire\, England in 1993 to join his friend and band associate Conor MacSwiney\, who had established a residency in Murphy’s Irish bar in Wellesley street\, Auckland. He played a five-string banjo\, guitar\, and also helped out on vocals. \nTogether\, they formed The Dogs Bollix band and later opened their own establishment called The Dogs Bollix Bar\, which they ran for ten years. Alan remained in Auckland and started up the Thirsty Dog Folk Club on K–Road\, which ran for 8 years. \nHe now play gigs at pubs \, the Auckland Irish Society\, Sunday markets\, and retirement villages. He also plays the melodeon for the Auckland Morris Dancer.
